The Effect of Technology Devices

Technology plays a large part in American culture, almost everything we do involves it. The rate at which technology is evolving is unbelieveable. For example, just when my mom was in college, computers were the latest invention and they were bulky and slow. Now, we have high tech, thin computers that work more efficiently than we ever could've imagined. Technology has changed so much in the past few years, and because of this, select people believe we are becoming too dependent on it. Maybe we are, with a cell phone and internet at our fingertips with tons of information, why would you take the time to read a textbook or do the math in your head? The big debate is whether or not this impacts people in a positive or negative way. I personally believe that technology is great, but it has it's limits. I think it's important that people are still able to think and learn on their own. Children are being exposed to technology at such a young level now that they have a greater potential to become addicted. I see young kids walking around with their head in their phone, not paying any attention to their surroundings. Just like I mentioned earlier, technology can be a good thing, but it has its limits.

Technology has changed American culture in that before, papers were handwritten and now they are typed. Also, where math would've been written out on paper, we now use a calculator. Lastly, when before people would have communicated through letters or verbal combination, they now would email or text. These little things mentioned have made a large impact on American education, and there are other types of technology that have affected different parts of our culture also.
