Sports and Culture

Sports is a huge part of American society. Stadiums are filled to support professional sports teams. The most popular sport in America is football. Not soccer, but American football. The Super Bowl is one of the biggest events of the year, and also one of the most expensive. In America everything is about money. The players pick which team they play for based on how much they are paid. At sporting events it is all about money. For example a meal at a football game that would normally cost 10$ costs 30$ because of the event. The price of tickets for the Super Bowl can exceed the price of a car. At a college level ESPN makes millions of dollars on football players who are playing for free. They even made video games about these players and they get nothing for it.

At a lower level, it is all about competition. In America, youth baseball is all about winning. Some coaches are tough and bench kids when they make a single mistake. Sports turn into just a way for a scholarship, not about the love for the game. Many kids don't have enough time for their studies because they are practicing for sports all day. This is what sports in America is like.
