Michael Vey: The Prisoner of Cell 25

The book I chose to read this month was the first book of the Michael Vey series, The Prisoner Cell 25.  It was written by Richard Paul Evans and it was published in 2011.  The book is basically about a boy named Michael Vey who has an extraordinary power, he can control electricity by absorbing large quantities of electricity and discharging it like a shockwave.  When his mother is stolen by an evil organization, he sets out with his friends, Ostin and Taylor on a rescue mission.  I chose this book because I enjoy the sci-fi genre of books and I love superheroes, and Michael Vey was a new breed of heroes, heroes who suffer from the stress of fitting in and school problems.  I highly recommend this book.  This book is connected to American culture because all Americans love superheroes and we are well known for our two popular superhero universes, Marvel and DC Comics.  Superheroes bring people together in comic cons and conventions held in honor of those caped crusaders.
